In September 2025, the London Metal Exchange (LME) aluminum market experienced notable fluctuations.
The first half of September saw a steady climb in prices, peaking in mid-September. However, between September 19 and 24, LME aluminum prices declined consistently, reaching USD 2,623/MT on September 24. Toward the end of the month, prices began to rebound, closing September with renewed upward momentum.

The domestic Chinese market followed a slightly different trajectory compared to the LME.
SMM aluminum prices rose sharply in the first half of the month, hitting their peak on September 12. In contrast, the second half of September witnessed a persistent decline, with prices stabilizing just under RMB 20,800/MT by month-end.
Outlook for October 2025
Looking ahead, the aluminum market in October is expected to remain volatile due to both domestic and international drivers:
- Global factors: fluctuations in energy prices, seasonal demand from the construction sector, and developments in the automotive industry.
- LME Outlook: Likely to fluctuate within the USD 2,600 – 2,750/MT range, with mid-month demand determining upward or downward swings.
- SMM Outlook: Domestic prices may face early October downward pressure, especially if demand from real estate and infrastructure remains subdued. However, support could come from seasonal demand in packaging and consumer goods.
